Sears
Sears, interestingly enough, began as a watch company in 1886. Founder Richard Sears moved the company to Chicago in that same year and ran a classified ad in search of a watchmaker. That ad was answered by Alvah C. Roebuck, and he and Sears formed the famous Sears, Roebuck & Co.
Sears was one of the original mail order catalog companies and was an answer to the prayers of farmers all across the United States. Since Sears bought goods in high volume and delivered their products with the help of the railroad and post office, they offered a wonderful alternative to half-priced goods in local rural stores. Today, Sears is a division of the Sears Holdings Corporation and provides most of its products in stores or online, though you can still request a Sears catalog.
